About the position

The Institutional Research Reporting Analyst at Southwestern Oregon Community College plays a crucial role in ensuring institutional compliance reporting and supporting data management and integrity. This position focuses on automating processes and improving data accessibility, working closely with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness. The Analyst will engage in various committees and collaborate with college staff and faculty to enhance data usability across the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compliance reports including IPEDS and other federal reports.
  • Create, maintain, and document standardized automated reporting infrastructure and procedures.
  • Collect, clean, validate, summarize, maintain, and prepare data for submission, ensuring accuracy.
  • Assist other college offices to meet compliance requirements within established deadlines.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency of routine reporting through automation.
  • Develop, perform, document, and automate complex queries and scripts to extract and prepare data for analysis using SQL, R, Python, or similar tools.
  • Develop and maintain computer code for compliance, accreditation, and funding requirements.
  • Retrieve data from various sources including internal systems and national data banks.
  • Assist in designing and publishing automated self-service data dashboards related to institutional research and effectiveness.
  • Produce and document data reports and visualizations using Tableau, Excel, SSRS, R/Python, and web-based applications.
  • Maintain standards for consistent information presentation across dashboards.
  • Perform, summarize, interpret, and document descriptive and basic inferential statistics for reporting.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all data requests, ensuring privacy and confidentiality requirements are met.
  • Manage content and assist with information architecture of the Institutional Effectiveness section of the college website.
  • Participate in trainings to maintain knowledge of compliance and reporting rules.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in computer science, data science, information science, systems science, operations research, public administration, business, or related field.
  • Two years experience with complex data systems and writing SQL for relational databases.
  • Experience summarizing and interpreting data, developing, and presenting custom data reports.
  • Fluency in SQL (intermediate to advanced) and advanced Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience with statistical programming languages such as R and/or Python.
  • Experience with visualization tools such as SSRS, Tableau, and/or PowerBI.
  • Experience with process automation and workflow management such as PowerAutomate.
  • Experience with content management systems such as SharePoint.
