About the position

The Instructional Aide position at Aiken County Public Schools involves providing general instructional and teaching assistance to assigned teachers under direct supervision. The role supports classroom activities, assists with academic instruction, and performs clerical tasks to enhance the educational experience for students. The aide will work closely with students, helping them with their learning and ensuring a safe and productive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides classroom teaching assistance such as reinforcing skills and monitoring in-school-suspension classrooms.
• Assists teachers with academic instruction and classroom activities, preparing and disseminating materials.
• Sets up the classroom for special activities and prepares materials for instructional projects.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform remedial instruction or tasks to reinforce learning initiated by the teacher.
• Monitors groups of students engaged in various activities and assists those experiencing difficulties.
• Distributes and collects materials, sets up the classroom, and operates audio-visual equipment as needed.
• Supervises playground activities and monitors students in various settings.
• Performs clerical tasks such as preparing instructional materials, filing records, and collecting fees.
• Assists in arranging field trips and accompanies classes as required.
• Operates general office equipment and performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree preferred or 60 hours college credit from an accredited college.
• Good knowledge of child growth and development; or equivalent training and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching or educational support roles.
• Familiarity with child development principles and educational practices.
