About the position

The MAIHE Program at Cape Cod Community College is a fully inclusive postsecondary program for young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Students in MAIHE share the same experiences as 4C's undergraduate students in the areas of academics, socialization, professional development, self-advocacy, and independent living. The Instructional Aide/Education Coach provides individualized 1:1 supports to students by fostering growth toward independence, helping develop daily living skills, promoting students' self-determination, and tracking progress using program evaluation tools. The Instructional Aide/Education Coach receives training and ongoing support from Program staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support students by accompanying them to classes, internships, and other campus experiences in varied settings, as needed.
  • Provide ongoing academic support, including in areas of study skills, scheduling, organization, and planning during academic year.
  • Complete program data collection forms related to student progress and record keeping (absences).
  • Model appropriate social skills, participation, adult behaviors, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs, concerns, and individual issues while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Provide verbal/written feedback of all requested observations for the purpose of assisting in evaluating students.
  • Support students in accessing various student supports including those provided by the O'Neill Center for Student Access and Support, the Tutoring Center, library, technology center, etc.
  • Collaborate with student and program staff at weekly check-in meetings.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned and/or requested from time to time by MAICEI administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One year of experience working with individuals with special needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations of students.
  • Sensitivity to student needs, concerns, and individual issues and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility, patience, and high professional integrity.
  • Strong written and computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Benefits

  • Part-time, non-benefited position.
  • Compensation of $32.64 per hour, for up to 18 hours per week during fall and spring semesters (32 weeks total).
