About the position

The Instructional Aide - Head Start/Preschool position at Jurupa Unified School District involves assisting teachers and specialists in the instruction and development of preschool-aged students. The role focuses on promoting cognitive, language, social, and emotional development while ensuring a supportive and engaging learning environment. The Aide will work under the supervision of qualified professionals, providing both instructional and clerical support, and will be involved in various activities that cater to the developmental needs of children.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers and specialists in implementing the instructional program for cognitive and language development.
• Work with individuals and small groups of students under supervision.
• Prepare and supervise developmentally appropriate activities.
• Perform routine duties such as keeping attendance records and preparing reports.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and family contacts.
• Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom environment.
• Prepare instructional and training materials as needed.
• Maintain parent bulletin boards and student work displays.
• Supervise students during outdoor play, field trips, and meal times.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service training programs.
• Assist children with special needs in non-instructional activities.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
• Completion of twelve (12) semester units in Early Childhood Education.
• Background experience with children and/or adolescents.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of early childhood education theory and practice.
• Familiarity with children's games and craft activities.
• Basic first aid/CPR procedures.
