About the position

The Instructional Aide II at Moses Elementary School plays a crucial role in supporting students with significant learning challenges. This position involves providing complex support processes to enhance the instructional program both inside and outside the classroom. Key responsibilities include assisting with daily care, observing and documenting student progress, implementing instructional plans, and addressing special health care needs.

Responsibilities

  • Administer first aid and medical assistance as directed by healthcare professionals and classroom teachers.
  • Provide physical care to students with severe physical disabilities, including lifting and securing wheelchairs and safety restraints.
  • Support instructional activities by collaborating with teachers and special education teams to adapt and implement activities and materials.
  • Attend training and meetings to acquire and convey job-related information.
  • Communicate with staff to assist in evaluating academic progress and implementing IEP objectives.
  • Implement behavior management plans and strategies to improve student behavior under direction.
  • Maintain organized records and files, ensuring compliance with mandated requirements.
  • Monitor student activities during various school events to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Operate instructional equipment and assistive technology to support student learning.
  • Review classroom lessons and learning experiences with students requiring individual attention.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures and maintain consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support classroom and school operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Job-related experience is required.
  • Basic math skills, including calculations using fractions, percents, and ratios.
  • Ability to read manuals, write documents, present information, and solve practical problems.
  • Understanding of instructional procedures, age-appropriate activities, safety practices, and stages of child development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and communicate with diverse groups.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and behavior management.
