About the position
The Instructional Aide II at Spectrum Center Schools and Programs plays a crucial role in providing individualized support and instruction to students with developmental disabilities. This position involves implementing educational programs tailored to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and assisting classroom staff in creating a positive learning environment. The role requires collaboration with supervisors and participation in various educational and behavioral strategies to ensure students achieve their goals.
Responsibilities
- Implement curriculum and behavioral intervention strategies consistent with IEPs.
- Consult with supervisors on student progress and IEP implementation.
- Write progress reports and develop curriculum materials.
- Follow classroom schedules addressing each student's IEP goals.
- Complete accurate documentation on student behavior and report observations.
- Participate in data collection for student programs and classroom records.
- Perform job coaching duties and assist in training students at job sites.
- Maintain safety and security of the facility through close observation.
- Provide appropriate crisis intervention as necessary.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom.
- Act as primary instructor when the teacher is absent.
- Assist with planning and preparation of educational materials.
- Provide supervision during transportation routes for students.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
- Valid CA state driver's license.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Ability to obtain an Emergency 30 Day Sub Permit within 90 days of employment.
- Experience working with children with autism and developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
