About the position
The Instructional Aide position at Madison #1 Middle School involves providing instructional support to students, particularly those facing reading difficulties. The role requires working closely with the reading teacher to assist in implementing educational programs and ensuring a positive learning environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Assists the teacher in implementing the instructional program under the teacher's direct or indirect supervision.
- Works with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Makes and gathers materials and resources for instruction.
- Monitors student activities as assigned (i.e., in classroom, on playground, on bus).
- Follows teacher(s) directions to provide a consistent discipline program for students.
- Observes, monitors, and records student progress.
- Uses various equipment, including computer, telephone, printer, television, and copy machine.
- Understands and applies safety-related precautions as outlined in MSDS.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the designated supervisor(s).
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work with students in a small group basis, including those with reading difficulties.
- Ability to relate positively to students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to use word processing on personal computers.
- Experience with children preferred.
