About the position
The Instructional Aide plays a crucial role in supporting teachers and fostering a positive learning environment for students. This position involves collaboration with educators, parents, and community partners to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. The Aide is responsible for assisting in classroom management, implementing instructional strategies, and maintaining student records, all while promoting a nurturing and safe educational atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Fosters a safe and nurturing learning environment
- Assists the teacher in maintaining classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning
- Supports differentiation or other instructional strategies implemented to ensure that needs of all learners are met
- Establishes an environment where students are excited about learning
- Supports teachers with data tracking and progress monitoring
- Builds strong relationships with students, parents, and teachers
- Demonstrates support and knowledge of school's goals and mission
- Attends and participates in school-based meetings and activities
- Can develop or assist in the development of lesson plans according to the CA CCSS and CA State Content Standards
- Identifies student areas for improvement and works with the student and family to suggest options for improvement
- Provides continual assessment of student progress, maintains student records, and completes assigned paperwork in provided timeframes
- Collaborates with the Educational specialist and other staff to meet the needs of all students
- Attends and implements professional development training throughout and beyond the school year
- Participates, attends, and plans field trips
- Participates in school events during, before, and after school
Requirements
- Meet the requirements of the NCLB & ESSA
- Prior experience working with students in a learning environment
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must be flexible, positive, detail-oriented, team player, patient, and willing to learn
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment with flexibility and dedication
- Ability to lift, walk, sit, and stand for periods of time
