The position involves assisting students by reviewing and reinforcing basic instruction assigned by a classroom teacher. The aide will assist individuals or small groups of students in teacher-directed learning activities and participate in required in-service training. The role includes conferring with the teacher or supervisor to assist with informal evaluations of students' progress and implementing specific objectives based on students' needs. Additionally, the aide will monitor, support, and assist with the implementation of teacher-directed positive behavior plans that promote student independence, motivation, and self-esteem. The aide is also responsible for implementing the district discipline plan and monitoring student activities on the playground and in the cafeteria. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
