About the position

The Instructional Assistant/Personal Care Assistant role at Light Shine: Therapy for All involves providing personalized instructional support to students with disabilities from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The position focuses on fostering a productive learning environment through one-on-one assistance, clarifying concepts, and developing customized learning strategies. The ideal candidate will engage with students remotely, utilizing various educational technologies to enhance the learning experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one instructional support to students in various subjects via online platforms.
• Assist students with homework, assignments, and exam preparation.
• Clarify and explain complex concepts in an accessible and understandable manner.
• Develop and implement customized learning strategies to address individual student needs.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as necessary.
• Maintain regular communication with students and, if applicable, their parents or guardians to report on progress and address any concerns.
• Maintain proper documentation of sessions and progress for student goals and billing purposes.
• Utilize various educational technologies and resources to enhance the learning experience.
• Stay updated with the latest educational best practices, tools, and trends to continuously improve service delivery.
• Collaborate with other instructional support team members to share insights and strategies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Previous experience in providing instructional support, especially in a remote setting is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with online teaching platforms and tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams) or ability to learn various online platforms.
• Ability to motivate and engage students in a virtual learning environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
