About the position
The Instructional Assistant-Special Education Resource position is designed to support classroom teachers in providing effective instruction to students with special needs. This role involves working closely with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and assist in various instructional duties, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to thrive in their educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning materials or skills initially taught by the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on an understanding of individual students' needs, interests, and abilities.
- Serve as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Alert the teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected of certified teachers.
- Assist the teacher in preparing bulletin boards, copying materials, laminating, selecting compatible software, grading papers, and helping in testing.
- Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom.
- Assist with monitoring of students as assigned by school administration.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must enjoy working with children.
- Must be Highly Qualified.
