The Instructional Building Substitute Teacher will be responsible for covering teacher absences on a daily basis, ideally for no more than one consecutive week in any one class. This role involves presenting and teaching subject matter across various content areas to students in grades K-8, following the substitute plans provided by the classroom teacher. In instances where no absence coverage is needed, the substitute will adhere to a school-provided push-in support schedule, primarily focusing on subjects such as science, social studies, art, music, physical education, or Chinese language classes. The Instructional Building Substitute is expected to support the classroom teacher by providing students with the necessary guidance and support to succeed academically. In this position, the substitute teacher will challenge, inspire, and actively engage students in their learning process, emphasizing both content knowledge and critical thinking skills, as well as character development. Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this role, as it directly impacts the learning environment and student success. The substitute will also be involved in various responsibilities that contribute to the overall educational experience, including maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere, developing community-building lessons, and reinforcing lessons through one-on-one or small group interactions with students. Additionally, the substitute will assist in preparing for lessons, supervising students during various activities, and maintaining accurate records of student progress.
