About the position

The Instructional Coach in the P.A.T.H. DS-CTE Program at the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of Career and Technical Education (CTE) across the region. This position is designed to support CTE teachers by providing coaching that focuses on standards-based planning, culturally responsive instruction, and effective assessment strategies. The coach will work closely with a caseload of up to 20 CTE teachers, offering guidance and support tailored to their specific needs and the unique challenges they face in their classrooms. In addition to direct coaching, the Instructional Coach will collaborate with a team of coaches who meet regularly to share insights, strategies, and resources. This collaborative environment fosters professional growth and ensures that coaches are equipped with the latest educational practices and methodologies. The overarching goal of the DS-CTE program is to open career pathways into and within education, thereby contributing to a skilled, diverse, and stable workforce that reflects the communities served by ACOE. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to addressing staffing gaps that disproportionately affect focal students and will be committed to implementing innovative solutions to serve these students effectively. This role requires a strong commitment to educational equity and a passion for supporting both teachers and students in achieving their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Coach CTE teachers in standards-based planning and culturally responsive instruction.
  • Support teachers in learning from assessments to improve student outcomes.
  • Partner with students and families to enhance the educational experience.
  • Collaborate with a team of coaches to provide lateral support and ongoing development.
  • Implement innovative strategies to address staffing gaps affecting focal students.

Requirements

  • Valid CA teaching credential (required)
  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • At least five (5) years of classroom experience (required)
  • At least three (3) years of coaching or adult learning experience (preferred)
  • Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in adult learning methodologies
  • Familiarity with CTE standards and practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
