About the position

The Instructional Coach at Ecoff Elementary School is responsible for providing leadership and support in instructional areas for a Title I school. This role involves collaborating with teachers and administrators to implement core and supplemental instruction, ensuring effective teaching practices, and enhancing professional development within the school. The coach will utilize data to inform instructional decisions and support school improvement strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and consistent support in the classroom to assist teachers in implementing core and supplemental instruction.
  • Plan and implement a schedule of regular in-class support and demonstration experiences for teachers.
  • Coordinate the acquisition, distribution, and use of related materials and supplies.
  • Solicit principal/teacher input regarding additional needs for professional development.
  • Prepare and deliver staff development activities related to specified instructional areas.
  • Visit classrooms for teaching support and consultation; conduct routine observations of the effectiveness of specified instructional areas.
  • Serve as a professional resource and support person for teachers, school administrators, and other instructional personnel.
  • Use data to make instructional decisions related to curriculum and instruction; monitor and assess student performance.
  • Disaggregate data to provide ongoing assessment of student achievement.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to instruction and assessment based on ongoing analysis of results.
  • Support specified school improvement strategies.
  • Design and conduct professional development; coach or mentor teachers within the school.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Virginia teaching license.
  • Minimum of five years successful teaching experience in a public or accredited private school.
  • Considerable knowledge of content, concepts, principles, and methodologies of specified instructional area in a public school setting.
  • Demonstrated skill in a wide variety of media and technology to support job functions.
  • Ability to secure, monitor, and evaluate appropriate specified instructional area programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Elementary endorsement(s) and/or a reading or math specialist endorsement preferred.
