About the position

The Instructional Coach at Volunteers of America Los Angeles will collaborate with classroom teachers to enhance student learning through professional development and personalized support. This role focuses on implementing research-based instructional practices and conducting assessments to identify areas for growth, ultimately aiming to improve teacher performance and student outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Teacher Needs Assessment (TNA) to identify areas of need for growth.
  • Conduct and score CLASS observations.
  • Review and analyze data, DRDP results, CLASS scores, etc.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals with the teacher based on observation and TNA.
  • Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
  • Link teacher assessment to teacher performance.
  • Perform other duties as required to further the mission of HS/EHS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or related field.
  • 24 CD/ECE units including 6 infant toddler units (3 semester units required at hire).
  • Site Supervisor Child Development permit.
  • 1 year of monitoring/coaching experience.
  • Supervising adults.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years' experience monitoring/coaching adults.
  • 1 year teaching experience from birth to 5.
  • Familiarity with licensing/performance standards.
