About the position

The Math/Reading Instructional Coach at Catapult Learning is a per diem role focused on enhancing the instructional capabilities of K-12 educators in Henrico County. This position aims to improve student outcomes by providing professional development, resources, and support to teachers, enabling them to deliver effective literacy and math instruction. The coach will engage in collaborative planning, lead workshops, and foster a culture of active participation among educators.

Responsibilities

• Host dynamic and collaborative planning conferences that unleash the creative potential of educators.
• Craft creative example lessons that captivate students.
• Lead interactive professional development workshops when needed.
• Research and demonstrate instructional strategies.
• Foster a culture of active participation and vibrant open discussions.
• Ensure all educator development is completed successfully.
• Provide report documentation as required.
• Communicate actively with directors regarding activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field (master's degree preferred).
• Valid VA teacher certificate, a Reading or Math Endorsement.
• Understanding the stages of reading and writing development.
• Familiarity with evidence-based instructional strategies.
• Knowledge of literacy/math assessments and how to interpret and use data for instruction.
• Familiarity with local, state, and national literacy/math standards (e.g., Common Core, science of reading frameworks).
• Experience delivering professional development workshops to adults.
• Awareness of diverse cultural backgrounds and their impact on literacy/math practices and learning styles.
• Strategies for supporting multilingual learners and students with varying abilities.
• Experience working in blended learning classrooms.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Microsoft Office experience.
