About the position

As an Instructional Design Architect at Aerospike, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of our customers and internal teams. Your primary focus will be on developing and delivering high-quality technical education programs that empower users to effectively utilize our real-time data platform. You will work closely with subject-matter experts and learning architects to assess the needs for new courses and updates to existing ones, ensuring that our curriculum remains relevant and impactful. Your responsibilities will include auditing current educational content, integrating technical documentation, and creating engaging, interactive learning experiences that incorporate gamification elements such as missions and badges to incentivize user engagement and progression. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in technical education to design curriculum for multi-modal, hands-on courses. You will also be responsible for creating instructor guides and implementing “train the trainers” programs to ensure that our educational initiatives are effectively communicated and delivered. As a thought leader within the company, you will provide guidance on curriculum development principles and best practices, and you will serve as a resource for the Support Team regarding course-related inquiries. Your passion for training and technology will be essential as you help foster a collaborative learning environment that empowers builders and enhances their skills. With a strong emphasis on innovation, you will be expected to think outside the box to help scale our educational offerings. Your experience with platforms like Skilljar, along with your technical background, will enable you to create impactful learning experiences that resonate with our diverse audience. You will also have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, including Graph, AI, and Vector databases, as you design and implement educational content that meets the evolving needs of our customers and the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Audit current curriculum for updates and create impactful, interactive experiences.
  • Develop and deliver technical education programs for customers and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts and learning architects to scope needs for new courses and updates to existing ones.
  • Integrate technical documentation into educational content as needed.
  • Design and implement gamification strategies to incentivize user engagement in learning journeys.
  • Create instructor guides and develop 'train the trainers' education programs.
  • Provide answers and support to the Support Team for issues related to courses.
  • Function as a thought leader and subject-matter expert on curriculum development principles and best practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in education, with 5 years of direct experience in developing and delivering technical education programs.
  • Experience with Skilljar or similar learning platforms.
  • Strong background in customer/technical education, including training, planning, delivery, and development.
  • Passion for training and technology, with the ability to think creatively to scale educational offerings.
  • Experience designing curriculum for multi-modal, hands-on courses.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with subject-matter experts and learning architects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with big data engineering topics such as data streaming, pipeline optimization, deployment, and data security.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C#, Python, Go, C, Node.js, or Rust.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL database technologies.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Familiarity with at least one common cloud provider (AWS or Google Cloud).
  • Experience designing and developing highly technical training based on instructional design best practices.
