About the position

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for updating a web-based interactive simulation for a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system app. This role is crucial for assisting call-center agents in troubleshooting customer issues related to the app, which they have not previously accessed. The designer will evaluate whether to update the existing simulation or create a new one, ensuring it aligns with the upcoming app release.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the existing interactive simulation of the CGM product and determine whether to update the current simulation or develop a new one.
  • Review existing release notes and documentation to identify updates needed for the simulation.
  • Develop a fixed-fee proposal based on the results of evaluation and review of the existing app and release notes.
  • Compare the current simulation with the new app version to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, providing guidance on best practices, improvements, and instructional design strategies.
  • Maintain open and frequent communication with the client throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with expectations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, with a focus on eLearning and simulation design.
  • Expertise in updating interactive simulations for software or technical products.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage deadlines and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Familiarity with authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline or other simulation-based software preferred.

  • Instructional Design Expertise: Demonstrated ability to guide clients on best practices for updating simulations, creating engaging learning experiences, and leveraging modern instructional design techniques.
  • Effective Communication: Strong consultative skills to foster a collaborative working relationship with the client, providing ongoing updates and feedback throughout the process.
  • Simulation Design Experience: Proven experience in designing or updating interactive simulations for technical products, ideally involving software or app interfaces.

Benefits

  • Independent contractor pay range of $65 to $70 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
