About the position

The Instructional Designer 2 role at Salt Lake Community College focuses on the design, development, and implementation of curriculum for workforce training programs. This position involves creating and launching new courses and instructional materials while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality educational offerings that meet industry standards and utilize technology effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design effective, quality instruction for technology-enabled learning environments.
  • Create appropriate assets and evaluation tools from content identified by subject matter experts.
  • Produce course design documents based on sound instructional design principles.
  • Work closely with faculty, staff, administrators, industry, and community members to design and develop offerings consistent with the division's goals.
  • Ensure the instructional design quality of the courses developed.
  • Support the creation of instructional materials for program offerings.
  • Provide leadership to the division, influencing technology-enabled instruction towards best practices and positive student outcomes.
  • Lead division in coordination and standardization of online and blended instructional delivery.
  • Recommend innovative approaches and strategies to solve instructional problems and achieve course enhancements.
  • Conduct usability studies and needs assessments as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or a related field with 2-4 years of experience designing instructional materials for technology-enabled learning environments, or a Master's degree with 0-2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of instructional design, web design, and adult learning theory.
  • Ability to provide engaging design recommendations and implementation.
  • Ability to technically write and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple aspects of a large project.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with Articulate 360, Canvas, and Zoom.
  • Experience with webinar administration, editing audio, and video recordings.
  • Experience with social network systems and activities.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite platforms.
