About the position

The Instructional Designer will support the prototyping, testing, and development of instructional projects within the College Board's Advanced Placement and Instruction division. This role involves collaborating with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, and subject matter experts to create high-quality educational content that meets AP standards. The designer will focus on developing prototypes for new course components, conducting testing, and translating successful prototypes into actionable content requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine prototypes for various components of new AP courses or instructional resources.
  • Conduct small-scale testing of prototypes to gather feedback and data.
  • Translate successful prototypes into clear, actionable requirements for new content.
  • Participate in cross-divisional planning efforts for the Development and Deployment stages.
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum and Assessment team to ensure alignment with AP standards.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or educational content creation.
  • Broad and flexible pedagogical knowledge with the ability to adapt to various instructional approaches.
  • Strong project management skills to keep projects on track and manage resources effectively.
  • Excellent writing skills for creating materials for teachers and curriculum developers.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project-based learning tasks.
  • Familiarity with industry-recognized credentials (IRCs).
