About the position

The Instructional Designer will play a crucial role in the Center for Teaching and Learning, focusing on the design and development of courses and programs. This position requires collaboration with faculty and stakeholders, providing LMS support, conducting instructional quality reviews, and implementing new technologies. The role emphasizes strong pedagogical, creative, and organizational skills, with the possibility of telecommuting for part of the workweek.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and various stakeholders to design curricula, instructional materials, and assessment strategies.
  • Support and train users on the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Maintain processes for the review and improvement of instructional material quality.
  • Participate in committees and service work related to instructional design.
  • Research and implement new instructional technologies.
  • Stay current with trends in instructional design and technology associated with the delivery of instruction.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Curriculum Design, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in faculty development, teaching in higher education, or instructional design.
  • Experience in developing educational curricula and programming.
  • Knowledge of course design, pedagogy, and assessment at the post-secondary level.
  • Ability to work with a broad range of university constituents including administration, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various educational technology tools.
