About the position

Kemper is seeking a key contributor for the Learning & Development team, responsible for content curation and instructional design. This role involves shared responsibilities for Learning Management System (LMS) administration, learning consultation, and managing Talent Management dashboards and reporting. The successful candidate will independently analyze content available on the online learning platform (Skillsoft/Percipio) and provide best practices on selection and use to all learning teams. They will support learning program design by selecting appropriate online learning content, including videos, eLearning courses, books, podcasts, and other media. Additionally, the role requires designing learning paths that support current in-role development of all Kemper employees and developing learning opportunities to prepare them for future roles or refine and improve their skills. The instructional design aspect of the position includes conducting independent, in-depth job-task and needs analysis to identify learning objectives and training solutions. The candidate will apply knowledge of adult learning theory to design content that meets the needs of various audiences and select the best delivery modes and methodologies for training. Collaboration with managers and subject matter experts is essential to document and develop curriculum requirements and program designs that meet enterprise needs. The role also involves creating learning standards, tools, and templates for use by all learning teams, as well as designing evaluation strategies to measure program effectiveness. As the administrator of the online learning platform, the candidate will assist in the administration of the LMS (Workday Learning), maintain up-to-date knowledge of its functionalities, and coordinate learning events. They will consult with business training teams to assess learning needs and recommend training solutions, providing guidance to the Kemper L&D community on Workday Learning administration. This position is office-based, with flexible working locations currently available, and may require travel.

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze content available on the online learning platform (Skillsoft/Percipio) and provide best practices on selection and use to all learning teams.
  • Support learning program design by selecting appropriate online learning content including videos, eLearning courses, books, podcasts, and other media.
  • Design learning paths that support current in-role development of all Kemper employees and develop learning opportunities for future roles.
  • Review all learning content for appropriately licensing and/or attribution to ensure legal compliance.
  • Assist individuals and managers with identifying appropriate training content based on inquiries.
  • Conduct independent, in-depth job-task and needs analysis to identify learning objectives and training solutions.
  • Design content applying knowledge of adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies.
  • Select best delivery mode and training methodologies for various training needs.
  • Document and develop curriculum requirements and program designs in partnership with managers and subject matter experts.
  • Create learning standards, tools, and templates for use by all learning teams.
  • Design evaluation strategies and tools to measure effectiveness and continuously improve programs.
  • Administer the online learning platform (Skillsoft/Percipio) and assist in the administration of the LMS (Workday Learning).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Workday Learning Administration and new features.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and track learning events, and create training communications to drive learning.
  • Consult with business training teams on selection and use of online content and virtual training tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree in Instructional Design or a related field preferred.
  • Auto Insurance Claims experience preferred.
  • 2+ years curating learning content.
  • 4+ years of training design and delivery experience.
  • Prior experience working with moderately complex content and designing training for multiple delivery modalities.
  • Broad knowledge of instructional technologies and experience in the use of e-Learning tools, such as Articulate 360.
  • Experience developing, organizing, and maintaining reports.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Learning Management System (LMS) experience preferred, with Workday Learning being a plus.
  • Proven organization and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities in a complex business environment.
  • Ability to problem solve quickly and effectively.
