About the position

The Instructional Designer & Communications Specialist at Gusto is responsible for designing impactful training content and crafting effective internal communications to enhance customer experience. This role focuses on empowering customer experience (CX) team members with the necessary knowledge and tools to excel in their roles, ensuring a top-tier customer experience. The ideal candidate will leverage their instructional design expertise and communication skills to support learning initiatives and drive performance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and update engaging learning content and programs for CX team members.
  • Utilize adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to create learner-centered experiences.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure training content is accurate and aligned with business objectives.
  • Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of training programs through assessments and performance metrics.
  • Craft clear and compelling internal communications to support training initiatives.
  • Manage communication plans for key learning programs and maintain a communication calendar.
  • Support change management efforts by developing communications and learning materials for organizational changes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of instructional design experience required.
  • Experience in applying instructional design models and adult learning theory.
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Captivate) and learning management systems.
  • Strong project and program management skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Experience in internal communication strategy, including crafting emails and newsletters.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience creating communication and training plans to drive adoption of new tools or processes.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with SMEs and stakeholders.
