About the position

The Instructional Designer for Engineering & Technology at Applied Materials is responsible for developing and designing engaging training materials that enhance the knowledge and skills of engineers. This role involves collaboration with subject matter experts and trainers to create effective learning experiences that align with organizational goals and performance improvement objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of comprehensive training programs to address learning objectives and organizational goals.
  • Develop and curate instructional materials, focusing on e-learning modules and other training formats.
  • Conduct thorough needs analysis to identify training needs and define learning objectives.
  • Create and edit written content, graphics, multimedia elements, and other resources for training materials.
  • Apply advanced instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to create effective learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, and stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training programs.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of training programs and analyze performance metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality training materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field, or relevant certifications in instructional design or e-learning development.
  • 4-5 years of progressive experience in instructional design, preferably in a functional/technical training environment.
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring software such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar tools.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and multimedia development software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including prioritizing tasks and managing resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Open edX is a plus.
  • Ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Proactive approach to learning and applying new instructional design technologies.
