About the position

The Instructional Designer (ID) will collaborate with faculty and partners on the COMPASS project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, aimed at enhancing enrollment, retention, and graduation rates among Hispanic and low-income students. The ID will support the development of a new First-Year Experience and revise the General Education curriculum to foster student engagement and success. This role involves providing pedagogical support, developing professional development resources for faculty, and ensuring that courses are designed to meet the diverse needs of students.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, and assessment of a revised General Education model, including a new First-Year Seminar.
  • Assist faculty in revising existing General Education courses and developing new ones to enhance student engagement and success.
  • Develop professional resources and experiences for faculty to refine their pedagogies in line with the new General Education program.
  • Collaborate with faculty and student support offices to maximize student engagement and academic success through General Education courses.
  • Lead the design and implementation of learning resources such as Blackboard modules and eportfolios.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in postsecondary curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, particularly Blackboard.
  • Experience in designing and facilitating faculty professional development in course design and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Experience in a higher education environment supporting faculty and administration.
  • Expertise in applying learning theory and pedagogy to instructional design strategies.
  • Experience related to first-year experience and supporting low-income, first-generation college populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with usability and accessibility guidelines in instructional design.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
