About the position

The Instructional Designer, Health at McGraw Hill will play a crucial role in planning and developing instructional materials for middle and high school Health programs. This position involves collaborating with a team of Instructional Designers and other departments to create digital tools and curriculum solutions that impact educators and students globally.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to specific early product workstreams under the direction of management and senior team members.
  • Create digital proofs of concept (POCs) and prototypes using proprietary and collaborative tools.
  • Collaborate to design, storyboard, and develop digital curriculum assets such as simulations and interactive content using a UBD process.
  • Participate in concept meetings, review manuscripts, and create storyboards.
  • Provide contributions with digital tools under the leadership of management and senior team members.
  • Play a significant role in user testing and provide informal product training to associate instructional designers.
  • Lead digital build workflows through all stages of development, meeting all milestones.
  • Act as an expert voice for accessibility throughout the product development process.
  • Contribute to the product build process and develop digital content authoring guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product requirements and project schedules are met.
  • Support digital vendor launches by delivering templates, trackers, and content development guidelines.
  • Identify, test, troubleshoot, and follow up on technical bugs and enhancements in authoring tools and platforms.
  • Complete digital product development tasks including metadata tagging, concept mapping, and digital editing.
  • QA the work of vendors to ensure adherence to guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in digital content development, including teaching and learning materials.
  • Experience managing multiple projects within tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Some experience with authoring tools, learning management systems, and content management systems.
  • Some ability to create and visualize animated and interactive content.
  • Previous teaching experience in Health or Life Sciences.
  • Experience in instructional design or educational technology.
