About the position

As an Instructional Designer at MSX International, you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative and engaging training content for our automotive clients. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, MSX International is dedicated to transforming businesses and enhancing customer experiences for leading automotive brands. This position is designed for a highly creative individual with expert storytelling skills, who is passionate about creating interactive online training and developing curriculum for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). You will be responsible for crafting instructional content that will be delivered to retail personnel in various departments, including sales, service, parts, and warranty, as well as corporate personnel. Your focus will encompass a range of topics, including sales and service processes, customer experience, operations management, and soft skills, along with systems training. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our account team, graphic designers, production staff, and OEM clients. Your responsibilities will include reviewing client materials, conducting training analyses, and determining appropriate instructional strategies based on Bloom's Taxonomy. You will also be tasked with writing communications, guides, developing course outlines, storyboards, and eLearning production notes. For instructor-led training, you will create training materials such as presentation decks, facilitator guides, and participant guides. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, particularly in the automotive sector, and will be adept at applying modern learning theories to create engaging and effective training solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and write web-based and instructor-led materials using both traditional and modern, interactive, and narrative-based learning approaches.
  • Develop course outlines, storyboards, video and voiceover scripts, job aids, and production direction notes.
  • Create both new training and updates to existing OEM training courses.
  • Support clients with the development of strategic training roadmaps based on OEM vision and priorities, by learning the clients' business.
  • Apply knowledge of eLearning principles, instructional theories (including ADDIE, design thinking, SAM, etc.), and adult education to design engaging interactive training.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to differing OEM training styles, objectives, and preferences for their training curriculum.
  • Attend internal and client meetings.
  • Participate in multiple projects at a given time.
  • Consistently deliver projects on time and within expectations.

Requirements

  • Five (5) + years of automotive instructional design experience.
  • Experience designing e-Learning, video, and instructor-led training.
  • Retail automotive experience is a significant plus.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and quality of work delivered.
  • Dedication to client satisfaction, and a passion for modern learning theory.
  • Ability to work in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently within timelines and budget.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Articulate 360.
