About the position

The Instructional Designer (ID) & Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator at Stevenson University is responsible for enhancing the quality of online, campus-based, and hybrid instruction through effective instructional design and LMS administration. This role involves collaborating with faculty to develop and deliver courses, ensuring alignment with learning objectives, and maintaining the LMS (Blackboard) to support educational technology needs. The position also includes training faculty on LMS usage and managing course sections, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the university's instructional design framework.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with instructional designers and faculty to design, develop, and deliver online and hybrid courses.
  • Guide instructors in best practices for online course content curation.
  • Verify alignment of activities and assessments with learning objectives.
  • Ensure all courses meet university quality standards.
  • Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities for faculty on LMS usage.
  • Manage the review and revision of online courses for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with the Office of Information Technology for LMS software maintenance.
  • Manage the integration of third-party tools into the LMS.
  • Assign instructional and supervisory roles in online courses.
  • Monitor system updates and communicate with relevant parties.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in learning/instructional design, technology, education, or a related field.
  • Post-secondary experience in instructional design or educational technology.
  • Expert-level experience in using and supporting LMS technology, particularly Blackboard.
  • Knowledge of instructional design models and practices in higher education.
  • Understanding of educational assessment theories and techniques.
  • Ability to create and link learning outcomes to assessments.
  • Experience in designing accessible and inclusive teaching pedagogies.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting and risk management.
  • Fluency in using information technologies and online tools relevant to course management.
