About the position

Lennox International is seeking a talented and experienced Instructional Designer to join our Learning & Development team. In this role, you'll be responsible for creating engaging and effective learning experiences that enhance industry knowledge and drive usage growth through the Lennox Learning Center. This position is divided into strategic and operational responsibilities, with approximately 30% of your time dedicated to strategic initiatives and 70% to operational tasks. In the strategic aspect of the role, you will identify content gaps to improve industry knowledge and boost usage of the Lennox Learning Center. You will develop and maintain content policies and standards for course and configuration management, create and update process maps for existing and future training development projects, and explore future strategic development opportunities for instructor-led training (ILT), online learning, and virtual instructor-led training (vILT). Additionally, you will analyze organizational needs to determine appropriate training solutions. On the operational side, you will design comprehensive instructional strategies that incorporate pre-class activities, presentations, learner participation, practice problems, automated continued learning opportunities, case studies, and evaluations. You will prepare instructor materials, create student materials such as course manuals and workbooks, select appropriate instructional multimedia, and craft effective copy, texts, audio, and video scripts. Your goal will be to ensure that all deliverables exceed internal customer expectations while communicating effectively about content, accuracy, timeliness, and areas of improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Identify content gaps to improve industry knowledge and boost usage of the Lennox Learning Center
  • Develop and maintain content policies and standards for course and configuration management
  • Create and update process maps for existing and future training development projects
  • Explore future strategic development opportunities for instructor-led training (ILT), online learning, and virtual instructor-led training (vILT)
  • Analyze organizational needs to determine appropriate training solutions
  • Design comprehensive instructional strategies incorporating pre-class activities, presentations, learner participation, practice problems, automated continued learning opportunities, case studies, and evaluations
  • Prepare instructor materials including course outlines, background material, and training aids
  • Create student materials such as course manuals, workbooks, handouts, completion certificates, and course critique forms
  • Select appropriate instructional multimedia and craft effective copy, texts, audio, and video scripts
  • Design and develop learning deliverables aligned with leadership and branding standards, including interactive eLearning, video tutorials, instructor-led classroom curriculum, and printed self-paced training materials
  • Ensure all deliverables exceed internal customer expectations
  • Communicate expectations for content, accuracy, timeliness, and areas of improvement effectively

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Requires at least 5 years related experience
  • Requires knowledge of adult learning principles and methodologies
  • In-depth knowledge of Instruction Design processes and techniques including training analysis, design, development and evaluation
  • Highly skilled in the development of participant and instructor guides for instructor-led training
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong PC skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio
  • HVAC industry background preferred
