The Instructional Designer III (ID-III) in Geomatics plays a pivotal role in supporting both local and statewide Geomatics faculty in the teaching and administration of Geomatics courses and labs at the Mid-Florida Research and Education Center (MREC). This position is responsible for acting as the lead instructor for field labs and providing comprehensive classroom and technology-based training tailored to meet the needs of the organization and its students. The ID-III collaborates closely with faculty and staff to maintain the integrity of the Geomatics undergraduate and graduate curriculum, ensuring that it meets educational standards and industry requirements. Additionally, the ID-III guides prospective students through the admission process and offers career planning advice to current students, helping them navigate the curriculum requirements necessary for graduation. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the ID-III in Geomatics is tasked with exploring opportunities for new academic offerings, such as certificates and degrees, based on feedback from the professional community. This role also supports the statewide Geomatics Extension program by developing and delivering a local outreach program at MREC, aimed at recruiting and training current and potential surveying and mapping technicians in central Florida. The ID-III coordinates closely with the Geomatics Extension program director, organizes meetings with local surveying societies and GIS professional groups, and facilitates knowledge transfer between the educational and professional geospatial communities. The position is responsible for measuring the outcomes of outreach workforce development events and promoting these efforts through various communication channels. The ID-III also manages the inventory of office and field equipment related to spatial data collection and analysis, providing guidance for teaching needs to effectively deliver Geomatics learning and training programs. This role requires close coordination with the MREC Director and personnel to establish a strong presence for the Geomatics Program in central Florida, ensuring that quality educational and Extension programs are delivered in alignment with the mission of UF/IFAS. The ID-III is responsible for ensuring that the necessary software, hardware, and field equipment are accessible in the MREC labs, and that courseware standards are consistently met. Furthermore, the ID-III explores needs and advises Geomatics/FFGS administration on the procurement of geomatics data, equipment, and software essential for teaching activities at MREC.
