The Instructional Designer III at West Texas A&M University plays a pivotal role in the development and support of classroom, hybrid, and online courses. Under general supervision, this position leads and manages the development of training for faculty and staff in areas of instructional design, andragogy, and best practices. The designer is responsible for ensuring that all instructional technologies, including the WTAMU Learning Management System, are effectively utilized and that faculty and students receive the necessary training and support. The Instructional Designer III collaborates closely with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online, blended, and web-enhanced courses. This includes managing course design and development projects, administering online development courses, and providing technical support for faculty and students. The designer is also tasked with leading the course review process, planning and developing instructional strategies, and researching emerging trends in instructional design. Additionally, the role involves creating training materials and conducting training sessions to assist faculty in utilizing course management tools and instructional technologies effectively. This position is integral to the Department of Academic Technology, ensuring compliance with various standards and regulations while fostering an environment of continuous improvement in instructional design practices. The Instructional Designer III is expected to perform usability studies, create reports, and recommend software and multimedia applications that enhance the learning experience.
