About the position

Our client, the world's leading search engine and technology company, is seeking an Instructional Designer. This is a 6 month + contract hybrid remote position located in New York, NY. The education teams at our client build products to help everyone in the world learn anything in the world. They enhance learning for school, learning for work, and learning for life. This project involves working with the education team to improve the quality and evaluation of using features. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure that educational products are effective and meet the needs of users. The Instructional Designer will play a crucial role in evaluating and refining educational products, ensuring they are backed by learning sciences research and are effective in enhancing teaching experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with education product teams on product design focused on enhancing teaching experiences backed by learning sciences research.
  • Evaluate the quality of education products and provide recommendations from an educators' perspective.
  • Evaluate education products using standard templates.
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to refine genAI outputs, including prompt engineering.
  • Assess improvements to the product based on rapid iteration cycles.

Requirements

  • Experience in successfully designing, developing, delivering and improving high-quality K12 edtech products.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • 4+ years K12 educator/tutoring experience in multiple K12 subjects, either in-person or online.
  • College degree or equivalent in education, instructional design, computer science, or related field.
  • Prompt engineering using any genAI tool for education scenarios.
  • Fluency with GSuite products, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching educators (e.g. leading teacher professional development sessions at multiple grade levels).
  • Advanced education in pedagogical principles and learning sciences.
  • Consulting with education technology products.
