About the position

The Instructional Designer position at Houston Methodist is responsible for designing and developing high-quality training curriculum and materials to support learning and development initiatives. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to conduct needs assessments, establish training objectives, and create programs in various formats, including e-Learning and instructor-led training. The position also includes testing eLearning modules, implementing training programs, and delivering training to employees at all levels, while staying updated on industry trends and evaluating training effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop training curriculum and materials for learning and development initiatives.
  • Conduct needs assessments and establish training objectives in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Create training programs in various formats, including e-Learning and instructor-led training.
  • Test and troubleshoot eLearning modules and ensure effective implementation of training programs.
  • Deliver training programs for employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Evaluate vendor-based learning content and determine plans for utilization and ongoing evaluation.
  • Research and develop leadership program materials and ensure adherence to intellectual property requirements.
  • Consult and mentor department educators on eLearning content development and best practices.
  • Implement learning programs within the Learning Management System (LMS) and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Create and administer multiple development projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in training, communication, education, healthcare, industrial-organizational psychology, instructional design, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Five years of experience in an instructional design role, with at least three years in eLearning development and deployment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service and professional communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Certified Instructional Designer.
