About the position

The Instructional Designer will play a crucial role in the Learning and Development team at Georgia-Pacific, focusing on creating engaging and effective learning experiences that support employee growth and align with organizational goals. This position involves collaboration with subject matter experts to design innovative training solutions, requiring a blend of creativity, instructional design expertise, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop instructional materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training, job aids, and multimedia resources.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex concepts into clear and engaging learning experiences.
  • Utilize instructional design theories, adult learning principles, and best practices to create effective learning interventions.
  • Conduct needs analysis to identify training gaps and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Develop assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of training programs and learner outcomes.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance learning experiences.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions as needed to support program delivery.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure learning solutions are consistent with Georgia-Pacific's brand and messaging.
  • Partner with the Instructional Design Team to teach instructional design best practices and the ADDIE model to L&D teams at the mills/plants.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with e-learning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE).
  • Project management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.
  • Willingness to travel 30% of the time as dictated by business needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field; or comparable working experience.
  • Experience with Articulate 360 authoring tools.
