About the position

The Instructional Designer at Georgia-Pacific will play a crucial role in the Learning and Development team, focusing on creating engaging and effective learning experiences that align with the company's business objectives. This position involves collaboration with subject matter experts to design instructional materials and requires a strong background in instructional design principles and project management. The role also includes a travel requirement of 30% to various sites across the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop instructional materials, including e-learning modules and instructor-led training.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create engaging learning experiences.
  • Utilize instructional design theories and adult learning principles to develop effective training interventions.
  • Conduct needs analysis to identify training gaps and recommend solutions.
  • Develop assessments to measure training effectiveness and learner outcomes.
  • Stay current with industry trends to enhance learning experiences.
  • Manage multiple projects to ensure timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions as needed.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure consistency with Georgia-Pacific's brand.
  • Teach instructional design best practices to L&D teams at mills/plants.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with e-learning development tools such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE).
  • Project management skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and educational technologies.
  • Willingness to travel 30% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience with Articulate 360 authoring tools.
  • Experience creating learning outcomes based on learner needs assessment.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
  • Certification in instructional design or related areas.
