About the position

The Instructional Designer - Nurse Educator Informatics at Nationwide Children's Hospital is responsible for designing and developing educational materials and training programs for clinical nursing and ancillary staff. This role focuses on the orientation, implementation, and maintenance of the electronic medical record system (Epic), creating engaging and effective learning experiences to enhance staff competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops instructional materials, courses, and training programs for licensed and unlicensed roles including nursing and ancillary staff.
  • Collaborates with clinical subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of course content.
  • Conducts needs analysis to determine training program content and methods that will meet clinical requirements.
  • Utilizes various instructional design methodologies and technologies to create engaging learning experiences.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new Epic product updates and ensures training programs and materials are current.
  • Evaluates and revises course materials based on feedback and assessment results, implementing necessary improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in instructional design is required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in adult learning is preferred.
  • Extensive experience with eLearning tools is required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills to interact effectively with all hospital staff and external contacts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Healthcare, EHR, or Epic experience is preferred.
