About the position

The Instructional Designer position at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a key role within the Colorado School of Public Health, specifically in the Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center. This position is responsible for developing and enhancing asynchronous learning opportunities for the public health workforce. The designer will collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to create engaging online training content, manage learning management systems, and provide technical support for training initiatives. The role requires a strong understanding of instructional design principles and the ability to adapt to new technologies and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Develop asynchronous learning opportunities using tools like Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, Articulate Storyline, H5P, and Genially.
  • Maintain and update training portals and learning management systems such as D2L Brightspace, Canvas, and WordPress.
  • Learn new technologies and methods using resources available to the RM-PHTC.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and develop online training content and courses.
  • Train faculty and staff in the use of learning management systems and applications.
  • Coordinate instructional activities, including logistics for distance delivery technologies.
  • Provide technical assistance and course management for workforce training courses.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least one year of professional experience in instructional design or related fields for Intermediate Professional; two years for Senior Professional.
  • A shareable professional portfolio containing at least three examples of instructional design work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, and Articulate Storyline.
  • Experience managing websites and working with learning management systems.
  • Experience with web conferencing, presentation, distance learning, and video editing tools.
  • Experience with HTML coding or other programming experience.
  • Experience teaching and supporting individuals new to technology.
