About the position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Medical Student Education is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer to work remotely. This role focuses on planning and implementing engaging learning activities and course content tailored to meet the needs of a target audience. The Instructional Designer will collaborate with subject matter experts, conduct needs assessments, and utilize emerging technologies to enhance the learning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement engaging learning activities and course content.
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify new development needs.
  • Conduct needs assessments and analysis for target audiences.
  • Design and create instructional materials that enhance retention and transfer.
  • Identify methodologies for delivering curated content.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies for course integration.
  • State instructional and learning goals and create matching content and assessments.
  • Produce instructional graphics and user interfaces.
  • Determine aesthetics and context for instructional materials.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
  • Apply instructional design theories and methods.
  • Provide exercises and activities to enhance learning processes.
  • Create supporting multimedia materials such as audio, video, and simulations.
  • Develop assessment instruments to judge learner performance.
  • Maintain project documentation and course resources.
  • Adhere to university policies and safeguard university assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in instructional design or related area.
  • Experience using industry-standard Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Blackboard, Canvas, or Elentra.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
  • Project management expertise and record maintenance skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Instructional Design or Higher Education Administration.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts in medical education.
  • Highly proficient with various Learning Management Systems.
  • Skills using authoring tools such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate, or iSpring.
