About the position

First American's National Production Services division is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join our team. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and implementing various learning content that empowers learners, instructors, and the organization as a whole. The Instructional Designer will leverage their instructional design experience and human-centric approach to create engaging and effective learning solutions. In this position, you will be responsible for building commercial quality learning content using industry-accepted instructional design processes. This includes developing webinar content for instructors and learners, such as infographics, job aids, facilitator guides, and presentation decks. You will also support our self-paced learning initiatives by creating and updating eLearning courses for both desktop and mobile delivery, blended learning programs, and various digital training tools. Your role will involve performing needs analysis and effectively communicating development requirements and progress to all levels within the organization, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the process. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and business sponsors to gather information and determine the most effective learning methods. You will be tasked with translating complex information into clear, practical, and engaging learning resources that meet desired learning objectives. Continuous assessment of training effectiveness and impact will be essential, and you may also participate in system administration and course maintenance, including managing the Learning Management System (LMS).

Responsibilities

  • Build commercial quality learning content using industry-accepted instructional design processes.
  • Develop webinar content for instructors and learners, including infographics, job aids, facilitator guides, and presentation decks.
  • Support self-paced learning efforts by creating and updating eLearning courses for desktop and mobile delivery, blended learning programs, and digital training tools.
  • Perform needs analysis and communicate development requirements and progress to all levels within the organization.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and business sponsors to gather information and determine effective learning methods.
  • Translate complex information into clear, practical, and engaging learning resources.
  • Continuously assess training effectiveness and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Participate in system administration and course maintenance, including Learning Management System (LMS) management.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience designing training for adult audiences in a professional environment (commercial or corporate).
  • Instructional design certificate from an industry recognized organization preferred.
  • Information Mapping/DocuTools Certification preferred.
  • Experienced in instructional design theory and/or learning principles (ADDIE, ARCS, Bloom's, etc.).
  • Demonstrated critical thinking to review and analyze data.
  • Strong training project management skills with an emphasis on needs analysis, scope, time estimations, tracking, and execution on both long-range projects and immediate tasks.
  • Proficient in graphic/user interface/interactive design.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, Bridge, Premiere, InDesign, AfterEffects, etc.).
  • Experience with Articulate 360 (Storyline 360, Rise, Studio 360, Replay, etc.).
  • Experience with Snagit 2018 or greater and Camtasia 2018 or greater.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and online graphic design applications, such as Venngage and Canva.
  • Knowledge of HTML, ActionScript, or application/gaming design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond quickly to emergent problems.
  • Passionate about continuous learning and innovation.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
