About the position

The Instructional Designer EHR at Mayo Clinic is responsible for designing and implementing a variety of educational courses and training programs related to electronic health records (EHR). This role involves collaborating with application teams and operational representatives to develop new curricula, translate existing content into new formats, and maintain educational resources. The designer will also assess organizational needs, ensure the quality of training environments, and manage project tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and implementing various types of courses (asynchronous, synchronous, virtual, in-person).
  • Conceptualize design and technology options for educational programs.
  • Develop new education curriculum and translate existing content to new delivery formats.
  • Maintain resources, courses, and materials through Epic quarterly upgrades.
  • Assess organizational needs and design curriculum for instruction.
  • Attend classes and review end-user feedback to ensure quality training.
  • Create robust patient scenarios and build training users aligned with staff roles.
  • Troubleshoot build errors and maintain synchronization with the Production environment.
  • Understand eDevelopment design basics, including script writing and workflow recording.
  • Manage Epic Learning Home dashboards and credentialing of trainers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in adult education, training and development, Human Resources, medical or related field required.
  • Three to five years of related experience in a training-related field required.
  • Master's degree in education, instructional design or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum design and development.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing relational and web-based databases is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in standard productivity software, web-based authoring systems, graphics software, and multimedia applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Epic knowledge or experience preferred.
  • Epic analyst certification required within 6 months from date of hire.
  • Strong organizational and tracking skills for maintaining resources and progress tracking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Epic Cadence preferred but not required.
