About the position

The Instructional Designer at MedCerts will play a pivotal role in the design and development of self-produced eLearning content, focusing on enhancing the delivery of training programs. This position requires the designer to create innovative and engaging learning solutions utilizing various methods and tools. A significant part of the role involves conducting needs assessments to ensure that the materials developed effectively address learner needs and close performance gaps. The Instructional Designer will also contribute to script and assessment writing for different course elements as needed for specific projects. As a key member of the instructional design team, the designer will collaborate closely with project managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), editors, learning technologists, and interactive media developers. This collaboration aims to revise and create new courses that are not only effective but also highly engaging and compliant with quality standards. The focus will be on maintaining and developing courses in various fields, including IT, soft skills, and project management. Candidates should be adept at creating dynamic and exciting learning content, emphasizing user-centered design, user experience (UX), and accessibility for all learners. In addition to course development, the Instructional Designer will mentor and support contracted SMEs throughout project plans, establishing operational standards for all contractors. The role may also involve serving as an instructor, necessitating the maintenance of relevant credentials as required by licensing and regulatory authorities. Overall, the Instructional Designer will be responsible for ensuring that all instructional content meets accessibility standards and aligns with the objectives set by third-party credentialing authorities, while also addressing the needs of employers and academic partners.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Team members and external contractors to create, revise, and improve high quality, engaging eLearning content.
  • Establish the instructional design for all new IT, Soft Skill, and other (non-healthcare) course/module builds.
  • Rapidly gain understanding of production and product delivery capabilities and ensure all design strategies align with these capabilities.
  • Specialize in program and course builds within external 3rd party eLearning platforms, writing or coordinating unique assessments and option-level feedback as required.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager and offshore team for elements builds.
  • Continuously evaluate ID standards, techniques, and concepts to improve instructional content through innovation and best practices.
  • Assist in identifying, qualifying, and onboarding contracted resources for new and ongoing projects.
  • Leverage AI Course Authoring Tool to create content/storyboards independently and with other resources.
  • Strategically partner with the Project Manager to ensure projects are clearly defined, planned, and delivered on time and on budget.
  • Maintain a forward-thinking approach to solving eLearning challenges and be receptive to innovative ways to improve content and delivery.
  • Work closely with SMEs to provide overall direction on assigned development projects, maintaining communication with all team members and coordinating meetings as needed.
  • Ensure all MedCerts instructional content complies with accessibility standards.
  • Align course content with pre-established objectives and knowledge domains published by 3rd party credentialing authorities, while meeting the needs of employers or academic partners.
  • Create supplemental learning resources to fill content gaps and address deficiencies in training materials.
  • Write scripts for various course elements.

Requirements

  • Must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in the field of Instructional Design, curriculum development, or eLearning content creation.
  • Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessment.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS).
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Explicit accuracy and attention to detail in delivery of information.
  • High comfort level with the use of technology for communication and task completion.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines.
  • Able to produce quality content within expected timelines.
  • Must be 100% committed to Quality Assurance.
