About the position

The Instructional Designer at Chesterfield County Public Schools plays a pivotal role in enhancing student achievement by collaborating with teachers and school administrators. This position is integral to the school leadership team, focusing on creating engaging and authentic learning experiences tailored to meet the diverse needs of students. The Instructional Designer will support teachers in developing and implementing assessment practices that engage students, as well as instructional experiences that promote both disciplinary and transdisciplinary learning. The role emphasizes the importance of customizing the curriculum to be responsive and inclusive, leveraging technology to personalize learning and foster student agency. In addition to direct support for teachers, the Instructional Designer will lead and participate in district-wide professional learning opportunities aimed at improving instructional practices across the division. This includes embodying the core values of integrity, equity, teamwork, and ingenuity, and supporting the development and implementation of the School Innovation and Improvement Plan (SIIP) aligned with the district's strategic goals. The position requires collaboration with the school administrative team to ensure effective professional learning and curriculum implementation, ultimately enhancing student learning through technology integration. The Instructional Designer will engage in data analysis with teachers and administrators to inform instructional decisions, employing a flexible problem-solving approach that utilizes continuous improvement cycles. This role also involves coaching teachers through planning, modeling, and reflecting on instructional practices, as well as providing professional development focused on integrating technology into instruction. The Instructional Designer will stay current with best practices in curriculum and instruction, ensuring that instructional strategies are effective and aligned with the division's technology master plan. Regular collaboration with content specialists and other Instructional Designers will be essential for identifying curricular deficiencies and developing effective strategies to address them.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the School Innovation and Improvement Plan (SIIP).
  • Collaborate with the school administrative team to enhance student learning through technology.
  • Engage with teachers and administrators in analyzing student performance data.
  • Implement a teacher coaching model that includes planning, modeling, and reflecting.
  • Build the capacity of teachers through learning walks and feedback cycles.
  • Provide professional development for integrating technology into instruction.
  • Maintain communication between schools and the Division of Teaching and Learning.
  • Collaborate with content specialists to identify curricular deficiencies and effective strategies.
  • Participate in district-wide professional learning training and events.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Virginia teaching license.
  • Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience.
  • Degree or endorsement in technology preferred.
  • Experience in delivering and integrating technology in instructional programs.
  • Ability to design and deliver instruction to students and educational personnel.
  • Considerable knowledge of instructional technology and best curriculum practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience training teachers or adults in technology integration for instruction.
