About the position

The Instructional Designer/Sr Instructional Designer at PPL Corporation is responsible for creating and developing interactive learning solutions that enhance employee performance. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to design e-learning, instructor-led training, and blended solutions that address technical skills, compliance, and safety training. The position requires a strong understanding of instructional design principles and the ability to apply systematic approaches to training, ensuring that learning objectives are met effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, and produce learning solutions using various media including CBT/WBT programming, video, and sound production.
  • Design interactive lessons in a classroom environment using various learning techniques to enhance the learning experience.
  • Define requirements and evaluation methods for webinars and e-learning modules.
  • Consult with resident instructors and technical experts to improve student experiences through diverse instructional approaches.
  • Research and recommend educational best practices and instructional technologies to support teaching and learning.
  • Ensure training development projects are completed by established deadlines.
  • Develop media-rich e-learning modules and simulations using tools like Photoshop, Lectora, and Storyline.
  • Produce webinars using platforms such as WebEx or Teams and assess emerging learning technologies for classroom use.
  • Work with the LMS to create and track courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 3 to 5 years of experience in instructional design and course development.
  • 2 years of experience in instructional design and course development for Instructional Designer; 5 years for Sr. Instructional Designer with a bachelor's degree or 3 years with a master's degree.
  • Knowledge of adult and online learning principles.
  • Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new software and systems quickly and adapt to new methods.
  • Self-starter with innovative and creative skills.
  • Significant knowledge of programming e-learning with one or more e-learning programming tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • A degree in instructional design, education, technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with CBT/WBT tools and an LMS.
  • A multimedia and e-learning portfolio.
  • Experience with Dreamweaver, Flash, and Captivate.
