The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer Sr. to join the Kern National Network (KNN) team. This role is pivotal in developing educational modules, courses, resources, and learning experiences that align with the KNN Framework for Flourishing. Under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Learning and Engagement, the Instructional Designer Sr. will collaborate with KNN Program Office colleagues and external partners to ensure the successful design and delivery of instructional units. The position requires a deep understanding of instructional design principles and the ability to apply best evidence practices in education, curriculum, and learning cognition throughout the design process. In this role, the Instructional Designer Sr. will consult and train the KNN Learning and Engagement team, as well as external partners, in creating effective course and program curricula. This includes defining intended learning outcomes, aligning course content, and evaluating teaching methods and assessment strategies. The designer will also initiate consultations with subject matter experts to create engaging learning activities that enhance learner retention and application. A key responsibility will be to ensure that the KNN Framework for Flourishing is integrated into all learning experiences and instructional activities. The Instructional Designer Sr. will leverage emerging technologies such as AR/VR/XR and AI to design and produce learning resources in various formats, including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation. This role requires effective project management skills to oversee multiple course and learning material development projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to established instructional design processes and timelines. Additionally, the designer will contribute to the KNN Learning and Engagement team’s national strategy by identifying opportunities for learning experiences and managing events as needed. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and teamwork skills, enabling them to build professional relationships with faculty and staff. They will also demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, along with a commitment to staying current with emerging trends in education and instructional design.
