About the position

The Instructional Designer Sr. position at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a pivotal role that focuses on the development of educational modules, courses, resources, and learning experiences for the Kern National Network (KNN). This position operates under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Learning and Engagement and involves close collaboration with KNN Program Office colleagues and external partners. The primary goal is to enhance the educational offerings of the KNN's learning consortium, which is centered around the KNN Framework for Flourishing. As an Instructional Designer Sr., you will leverage your subject matter expertise and best practices in instructional design to contribute significantly to the Learning and Engagement team. Your responsibilities will include managing the design and delivery of instructional units that align with established guiding principles for instructional design. You will apply evidence-based practices in education, curriculum development, and learning cognition throughout the instructional design process. This role is essential in ensuring that educational initiatives are not only effective but also engaging and aligned with the latest pedagogical standards. In this capacity, you will consult, train, and serve as a resource for the KNN Learning and Engagement team, as well as additional Program Office team members and external partners. Your expertise will guide the design of course and program curricula across various instructional modalities, ensuring that intended learning outcomes are met and that course content is effectively aligned with curriculum goals. You will also initiate consultations with subject matter experts to create engaging learning activities that enhance learner retention and application. Collaboration with internal and external educators will be key in developing learning objectives and designing content for courses and learning modules. Furthermore, you will ensure that the KNN Framework for Flourishing is integrated into all learning experiences and instructional activities, coordinating a variety of instructional methods and leveraging technology to enhance delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Consult, train, and serve as a resource to KNN Learning and Engagement team and external partners in the design of course and program curricula.
  • Initiate and provide consultation and support for the creation of engaging learning activities that enhance learner retention.
  • Collaborate with internal and external educators to develop learning objectives and design content for courses and learning modules.
  • Ensure integration of the KNN Framework for Flourishing into learning experiences and instructional activities.
  • Coordinate the incorporation of various instructional methods to develop instructional materials.
  • Contribute expertise in using emerging technologies such as AR/VR/XR and AI in the design and production of learning resources.
