The Instructional Learning Designer plays a crucial role in the St. Jude Graduate School by assisting in the design, development, delivery, and management of educational projects and content that align with the institution's educational goals and objectives. This position requires effective communication and collaboration with other members of the education team, faculty, and staff to produce high-quality, innovative educational materials that support the mission and projects of the department and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The designer will coordinate with Information Services staff to manage the content and learning management systems utilized by the department, ensuring their maximum effectiveness. In this role, the Instructional Learning Designer will act as a liaison to faculty, staff, and students regarding content management and learning management systems. They will design and develop innovative educational packages based on the latest learning methodologies, identify and secure appropriate educational materials and resources, and perform basic project management tasks for all courses. Participation in team strategic planning is essential to ensure alignment with education team goals and objectives, as well as to enhance communication between the education team and faculty/students or trainees. The designer will also be responsible for developing and conducting assessments to evaluate learning objectives and validate training effectiveness. Writing and editing content, reviewing it for accuracy and quality, and producing content using multimedia development tools, software, and hardware are key responsibilities. Additionally, the designer will facilitate and support continuous quality improvement initiatives, help develop and revise education team policies and procedures, and may maintain the software, hardware, and media equipment inventory for the education team. Continuous professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, conferences, workshops, or classes is expected to keep abreast of software, hardware, and education trends. Other related duties may be assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution, with an emphasis on maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
