About the position

The Instructional Designer for Technical Training is responsible for conducting learning needs analysis and designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating learning solutions for the MSD field service organization. This role involves collaboration with various departments to create innovative learning materials and training programs, ensuring that employees acquire the necessary skills and knowledge effectively. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed team.

Responsibilities

  • Staying involved with new product introductions on Large Dual Beam products
  • Analyzing learning needs
  • Designing, developing, implementing and evaluating learning solutions
  • Leading your own projects or being part of a project team to deliver learning solutions on time and within budget
  • Keeping up to date with the technology of Large Dual Beam Microscopes (LDB) and the daily work of field service engineers
  • Conducting initial pilot training courses
  • Working in close collaboration with a senior instructional designer for validation of deliverables

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, preferably combined with instructional design or educational qualifications
  • 3+ years of technical background/experience that enables understanding of high tech concepts of electron microscopes
  • Instructional Design background or experience
  • Experienced in using different media to build engaging learning solutions, such as video and animations
  • Ability to perform needs analysis with subject matter experts and translate this into the best learning solutions
  • Strong analytical and structured/creative problem-solving skills
  • Pro-active attitude and creative approach to deal with complicated situations
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and customers
  • Ability to work in teams with varied strengths
  • Self-starter who is also highly productive when not supervised
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Proficient in English, both verbally and in writing, on a business level

Nice-to-haves
