About the position

St. Ambrose University is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer/Technology Specialist to join the Center for Instructional Design and Technology (CIDT). This role is pivotal in enhancing the educational experience by supporting faculty and staff in the design, development, and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences across various academic programs. The ideal candidate will be dynamic and innovative, with a strong commitment to academic excellence, service-learning, and community engagement. In this position, the Instructional Designer/Technology Specialist will work collaboratively with faculty to develop effective instructional strategies, course materials, and assessment techniques. A key responsibility will be to assist in adapting courses for online environments, ensuring that all online and hybrid courses comply with ADA and copyright regulations. The candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design methods, as well as measurement and evaluation theories. Familiarity with various software tools used in instructional design and training will be essential for success in this role. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling the candidate to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. The ability to manage projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is crucial. This role not only contributes to the academic success of students but also fosters a collaborative and innovative learning environment within the university.

Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with faculty in the development of instructional strategies, course materials, and assessment techniques.
  • Assisting in adapting courses for online environments.
  • Ensuring that online and hybrid courses are ADA and copyright compliant.
  • Demonstrating advanced knowledge of adult learning theories and concepts.
  • Applying instructional design theory and methods, and various instructional methods and delivery options.
  • Utilizing measurement and evaluation theory and methods, and various software tools used in instructional design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional technology, instructional design, or education.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of technology, including the Blackboard learning management system, Adobe and/or Apple production suites, and educational technology.
  • Ability to create basic instructional tutorials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
