About the position

The Instructional Designer position at Vanderbilt University's School of Nursing focuses on developing and enhancing online courses and curricula to meet accreditation standards and promote effective learning experiences. The role involves collaborating with faculty and staff to create engaging instructional materials and utilizing technology to support innovative teaching methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the course and curriculum development process to ensure compliance with program accreditation standards.
  • Assist in the development and/or revisions of course mapping, course level design, and unit level learning objectives.
  • Use database-driven tools to maximize efficiency in course development and evaluation activities.
  • Update and maintain course-related records and data for accurate reporting.
  • Apply visual design elements to online course components, documents, and forms.
  • Build and create interactive and engaging courses within the Learning Management System.
  • Provide feedback to instructors regarding instructional strategies and resources.
  • Review courses for quality, interactivity, and consistency.
  • Implement the Quality Matters framework for promoting excellence in course design.
  • Communicate with faculty for the creative deployment of instructional graphics and multimedia to support learning goals.
  • Contribute to online Knowledgebase for just-in-time learning resources.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in instructional design methodologies and technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in instructional design or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven working experience in instructional design with instructional technology.
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Solid knowledge of course development, lesson, and curriculum planning skills.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Previous teaching, training, or working experience in instructional design.
  • Ability to write effective instructional text, audio, and storyboards.
