About the position

The Instructional Designer at UC Online is responsible for providing instructional design support for the development and enhancement of online courses. This role involves collaborating with faculty and subject matter experts to create engaging and effective online learning experiences, utilizing various technologies and instructional design principles. The position emphasizes a commitment to student success and innovation in online education, ensuring that courses meet high standards of quality and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty and subject matter experts in the development of online and technology-facilitated courses.
  • Present programs, conduct faculty training, and help implement new technologies for online learning.
  • Utilize web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and instructional software for online course development.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners critical to course success, including faculty and technology staff.
  • Develop and support online courses according to established procedures and instructional design standards.
  • Assess the effectiveness of online courses and revise based on feedback.
  • Contribute to research, evaluation, and design of online courses and programs.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships and open communication with business partners.
  • Research and integrate new educational technologies to improve student learning.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Two years of experience in course building or course design.
  • Six years of relevant work experience and/or specialized training can substitute for the education requirement.
